Future Savings Skate competition – Central Skate Park and Urbis Gallery, Manchester, Jan 26, 2008

Our most recent event raised £4200 for Cancer Research UK. An amazing day was had by all and we couldn’t have done it without the help of our great sponsors. Also a big thank you has to go out to our friends at Sketch City www.sketchcity.co.uk, who provided us with a giant street art wall, artists and means to create. The artwork produced during the day that raised a sizable chunk at auction and helped us to reach £4200.

The day started off with one of the best competitions ever held at Central Skate Park with over 120 competitors in 2 different categories. Music was provided by local DJ’s including; Danny Drivethru, Gumbo Yaya and Kurdy. They provided the perfect sound track to the event; in the refreshment area run by our friends Johnny and Chris from one lounge in West Didsbury, thanks guys we couldn’t have done such a good job without you!

After a thoroughly enjoyable skate competition Urbis, now creatively decked out for the night by Psycle, became the party venue. The Urban Knights, a DJ/VJ act from Bristol opened up the night with their unique mix of music and video mixing and scratching. This was followed by the wonderful and slightly eccentric Gideon Conn and band that wowed the crowd with a fine selection of tracks the like of which had never been heard by a lot of people before. If you are still yet to experience Gideon first hand check out www.myspace.com/gideonconn or come and see him at our next event; Future Savings Garden Party!

Following Gideon we held our auction which wrapped up the night, that included a load of goodies supplied to us by our very generous sponsors including limited edition shades from Oakley, limited edition signed trainers from Etnies and many other skate related limited edition produce. The gear donated by these guys raised a serious amount of money that helped us to reach our total. On top of skate auction we also carried out an artwork auction, which included all of the artwork done throughout the day as well as pieces donated from the guys at sketch city. This proved to be a great success and added a substantial amount of money to our final donation to Cancer Research UK.

To conclude, all at Future Savings would like to say a big thanks to everyone that was involved in the day, including everyone that helped out with the running of the day, family, friends and friends of friends! Thanks to the competitors and everyone that came down to the event and put their hands in their pocket for a great cause.

After raising £1556 for Cancer Research UK at Future Savings Garden Party, we are proud to present:

Future Savings Art Auction in aid of Cancer Research UK

During our Garden Party, the noble artists from Sketch City battled on through 12 hours of rain and cold to produce some absolutely fantastic artwork. There was a huge interest in the artwork produced and we are confident we can raise a large amount of money for Cancer Research UK at our auction. Don’t worry if you can’t make it on the night just email your maximum bid to art@futuresavings.co.uk and we will set it as a reserve. More details about the event will be released as we work them out, but for now have a look at the photos and email over your reserve bids. For a size guide see the bottom photos displaying the work hung next to each other.
